Thoughts about God

Dear Reader,
This blog presents thoughts about God. God is the greatest pursuit in life. Finding him and knowing him and living with him, for His sake, is the essence of the purpose of all human life. We were made for him. Our discovery of Him is because He has pursued us. If you have found Him, it is because you were found of Him.
Perhaps, you will find here some common and familiar ideas of the One who is above all else the lover of our souls. I do hope that you will find some comfort here. It may even be that you will find something more to be learned and found of Him.
Above all else, I desire that these musings may be useful to you, and in some way, bring you closer to God and give honor to Him, who is, and was, and always shall be.

hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

And lead us not into tem...

“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us...

“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the...

"Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost pa...

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.  Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:33-34

“For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself.  For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord...

Over the last forty years, from time to time, people have asked me, “Why can’t God speak to me?”  This has sometimes been meant to ask, “Why can’t God let me know directly that He exists?” Sometimes this question has been meant to ask, “Why can’t God direct me what to...
